Sustainability
ESGCT is committed to sustainability, particularly in the context of the in-person events organised by the society.

ESGCT strives to:
- select venues with good links to public transportation and which have sustainability policies
and procedures in place, including but not limited to energy and resource-saving practices,
the use of environmentally-friendly cleaning products, water-conservation measures, visible
and accessible options for waste separation, and employing renewable energy wherever
possible; official sustainability certification is preferred
- minimise the shipment of materials by consolidating shipments into as few movements as
possible
- select suppliers who have commitments to sustainability wherever possible, with a particular
emphasis on conference catering
- minimise the use of single-use, disposable materials and prioritise recyclable and reusable
materials

In addition, since 2020 the society has stopped the practice of producing a congress programme
book and no longer accepts printed materials from society sponsors which were distributed to
each delegate at our events, which saves a large quantity of paper and single-use items.
